About Afroromanticism

Afroromanticism is a nonprofit platform spotlighting extraordinary art in unexpected places. From libraries and parks to basement galleries, we curate intimate experiences that blur the line between everyday life and imaginative worlds. Through exhibitions, performances, and hands-on encounters, we bring transformative works to communities.

The name ‘Afroromanticism’ traces back to the visual vocabulary of artist Nicola, who coined the term AfroRomantic Surrealism to describe an aesthetic grounded in personal memory, change, and emotion. What began as a private language became a cultural and curatorial platform that archives, distributes, and reframes the work of living artists, curating how art is made and remembered.

Each release is accompanied by catalogs, essays, and visual archives offering insight into the artist’s work and material processes. Afroromanticism welcomes you into an intentional rhythm of discovery and acquisition.
